I hope your summer is going well!
I’ve just returned from a brief sojourn to the Northwoods of Wisconsin where I had my fill of stunningly blue lakes, sunshine, hand-cut french fries, and mammoth portions of ice cream that only Wisconsinites can dole out! We chose to drive there and it was so fascinating to see the landscape changing as we moved across the Great Lakes area. Along the way, we (re-)visited the aptly named Pictured Rock (Michigan) and the exciting and inspiring “Science North” of Sudbury (Ontario). I was on a mission to capture the perfect picture of multi-colored lupines, which proved to be difficult because fields of lupines are not as stark in the landscape as, say, giant outcrops of rock. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the challenge!
At the end of June, my music students had their Spring recital, and I shared some of their performance jitters as I was accompanying my voice students – it was my first time doing so in public! I’m happy to say that we all made it through the experience and some may even have enjoyed doing it! I’m so proud of the progress my voice and piano students have made this year…some after only a few months of taking lessons! Teaching has really taken off in a way I didn’t anticipate and I actually decided to take the month of July off from my private in-home students just to get a bit of reprieve. Our gardens are in full force and I want to be able to enjoy them while they are still vibrant!
In other news, Opera Sustenida’s Trovatore production continues taking shape and we’re excited to start singing with our chorus members in just a few weeks!
